Zaheer khan happy despite loss to kkr

Zaheer khan happy despite loss to kkr. He said that his team's intent is good despite their loss to kkr. Boys fought hard but there was no luck on our side to win the match. Look to win coming matches and make a strong statement to other teams.

'Intent' was a word that Zaheer Khan, the Delhi Daredevils captain, stressed on after the nine-wicket routing of his team at the hands of a clinical Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Sunday (April 10).

Kolkata did their homework right and, having had a close look at the wicket, opted to go with three pacers and two spinners - a move which they gained plenty from. Delhi came out all guns blazing and raced away to 23 off the first two overs, making their intent clear. However, Andre Russell pulled things back spectacularly with a double blow in the third over to send back both Quinton de Kock and Shreyas Iyer.

"First two overs we were 23 so we had the start," Zaheer said after the game. "But it does happen, you do get caught up in that moment. KKR bowlers held it together and hit the right areas. And then it was just about dealing with pressure. These things happen.

"As a bowler, I'm happy to see this kind of wicket. You have to give credit where it's deserved. Sometime you do get caught up in the T20 format and that's what happens batting first. You are always chasing that big number. These things can happen, nothing wrong in that.

"I really felt the boys showed the intent on the field that was required. That's how we want to see Delhi Daredevils as a unit, out there fighting hard on the field. Scores are going to come. I have full faith in our batsmen and the preparation. It's just the beginning of the season, hope good things are going to come. It was a tough day for us and we accept that and move on."

As easy as it is to assume that it's just one game, it's hard to ignore the fact that it's a new season but the same old story for Delhi, who have very consistently floundered. Zaheer, himself, was caught trying too hard when Kolkata's batsmen were running away with the game in their meagre chase of 98.

"As I said in the post-match presentation, I was trying a bit too much. You learn every day. I was on the field after a long time. Having a low total on the board, as a bowler, you try too much so I was looking for that extra swing for the left-hander which I was not getting. But overall, happy to be out there.

"Been a tough day, but I'm very happy and proud of the boys' intensity and energy. That's how we're going to approach the season and that energy is what we're looking for. It's a young team and we're going to create opportunities and are going to have that approach in this format," he added.

Zaheer also cleared the air that JP Duminy was rested as a precautionary measure, while Mohammad Shami, who was bowling well in the nets has the confidence of his captain. However, he was left out on the day because of a combination that the team had in mind, before adding, "that's what the IPL is all about."

All should contribute for a win : Ravishastri

Ravi shastri on march 9 th said that he wants all the team members to do well. all should contribute as a team then only you will win the matches. no individual can win you the matches.

He also said that ms dhoni, virat kohli , and yuvraj singh all are in great touch at the moment.added to that our bowlers are in tremendous form . so all are contributing for a win in this team . as the team plays  first warm up match in kolkatta vs westindies on march 10th at 7.30 p.m.

Shastri felt it was good to have most of the big players in form going into the mega event.

"We have got into a good habit of winning games. You might get the odd hiccup on the way. But it's important to maintain a level of consistency and treat every game as an important game," Shastri said, pointing out the importance of warm-up games before the tournament.

After the West Indies game, India will play another practice tie, against South Africa in Mumbai on Saturday (March 12), before launching their WT20 campaign against New Zealand in Nagpur.

Shastri believes the Indian team has now the right blend of youth and experience.

"Any good side needs balance between youth and experience. If you look at history, the world No.1 sides would always have experience and youth. The youngsters bring energy to the table and keep the seniors on their toes while they too want to emulate the seniors," he explained. The former India captain is actually happy to have a `good' headache of not being able to fit in players like Ajinkya Rahane and Harbhajan Singh in the playing XI regularly.

"That's the criteria of a good team - its bench strength," Shastri pointed out. "Players like Harbhajan and Rahane can get into any team in the world. So it's a good problem to have," he quipped.

Shastri was all praise for Shastri was all praise for Kohli, who is in the midst of a fabulous run.

"Every time he bats, you can see passion written all over. You can see his body language, he just loves the big stage. He wants to compete against the best in the world," the former India captain said.

He took a dig at critics calling for skipper MS Dhoni's head.

"I've said long back that he (Dhoni) is the best. What else is left for him to be achieved... but there will still be people who want him to retire. This is normal in our country. You go after your champions," he lamented.
